December President’s Message

As unbelievable as it is, we are close to the end of this year. 2021 has definitely been one that we will remember for a very long time. However, we haveĀ continued to thrive, grow, and makeĀ a difference to those in need.

ā€œYearā€™s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.ā€ ~Hal Borland

As I reflect over the last year, I think about our Zoom meetings, in person meetings, rescheduling events like our basket fundraiser and then finally being able to hold this great fundraiser; the collections of foods and clothing, monetary donations, contributions to the Veteranā€™s Haven, giving scholarships to WDHS students, attending social events both in person and on zoom, attending art events, going to District meetings and the Summer Conference, the articles written, the speakers secured for our in person meetings, participating in WD Day, purchasing reusable bags to support our treasury, participating in all the internal fundraisers, supporting needy families, adopting families for Thanksgiving and Christmas, supporting each other and so much more. We have been able to increase our membership and add wonderful and energetic ladies who bring such great ideas and support to our club. There is no ā€œIā€ in club, team or group. It takes all of us to make a difference, move forward, stay fresh and relevant to the needs of today.

I want to thank all our club sisters for participating in as many of our projects as you were able to. Thank you to each committee for staying the course and making a difference. Thank you toĀ each committee chair who kept their committee busy and completing so many different activities. And finally, to our very active and busy Executive Board who continues to meet each month and go over all of the items that need to be reviewed before each general meeting. These ladies never stop. All of you are just amazing!

Our donations have been picked up and taken to the Veteranā€™s Haven. I want to thank Isabella C., Chris. T. and Cynthia H-B for storing these items until they could be picked up. A big thank you to our District VP Jill McD. and her husband for coming to West Deptford to get everything and delivering these boxes to the proper location.

I hear that our Poinsettia Fundraiser was a great success. I picked up my poinsettias today and they are gorgeous! I have already given one away as a gift for the season and will be delivering the rest within the next week. Thank you to all who purchased poinsettias through the club. It does help our treasury and allows us to donate more to those in need.

As we travel through December, our calendar continues to fill up with family obligations, holiday activities and SHOPPING for many of us. However, we never forget to give back to our community. I understand that three families are having a much better holiday than expected because of our contribution to their family celebrations. Thank you to allā€¦it is because of you that we can do this.

Soā€¦coming upā€¦our Holiday Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, December 14th at Kitchen 519 in Glendora. I have my Secret Pal gift ready and my socks are filled and ready to be displayed with the others for the socks exchange. If you want to participate in the Secret Pal exchange for 2022, look for the Secret Pal form at the end of Tidbits, print it, fill it out and give it to Cynthia H-B at our Holiday Dinner. Those who want to participate will be picking their new Secret Pal from those forms handed in at our dinner. Remember, this will be a short business meeting as we are going to spend our time enjoying this special season with our club sisters. Please read all of Tidbits to know what is going on and what is coming up after the first of the year.

A big thank you to all who offered to volunteer at the Harbaugh Village. As they are starting later than expected, I am waiting to hear if they will still be needing our assistance. I have contacted the Volunteer Coordinator and she is supposed to get back to me. I will keep those of you who volunteered updated as I hear more.

To all the Committee Chairsā€¦your report forms are due to me by January 15th so that I can copy them and send them to the State Chairs. I am looking forward to reading your summaries. We have some great activities to report to the NJSFWC.

We have a very busy couple months coming up in the new year and I will be reaching out to all of you as we navigate the last 6 months of the club year. There is a lot to do and much to accomplish. Stay tuned and watch your emails.

To all of youā€¦Have a Wonderful Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year! I cannot do my job without all of you and the support you give me.

ā€œAnother year is almost over and I just want to thank the special people in my life who have listened without judgment, helped without conditions, understood with empathy, and loved me no matter whatā€ ~Author Unknown

Thank you allā€¦ you are the backbone of the Womanā€™s Club of West Deptford!

Warmly,
