Environment Committee Report
Thanks to all of you collecting your plastic medicine bottles and caps, the Environment Committee dropped off a large black trash bag ¾ filled and weighing 7.8 kg (or about 17 lbs.) of plastic to Eco Plastic Products (ECOP) in Wilmington, DE.
ECOP is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit company that combats plastic waste by transforming recyclable plastics into practical, durable consumer products. This company was founded in 2018 and rooted in a shared passion for environmental stewardship. Their company has recycled 154,000 pounds of plastic to date. That is the equivalent to ONE adult blue whale, the largest animal on earth!
Unlike many organizations that focus on common recyclables, ECOP specializes in processing plastics that are often ignored (#2, #4 & #5 plastics) and transforming them into purposeful consumer goods such as park benches and picnic tables.
ECOP is involved in many projects, collaborating with numerous partners, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the University of Delaware, Penn State, and more. They donate some of their products to other nonprofit organ-izations and work with schools to
educate students about collecting and recycling plastic. Their team is dedicated to the community and is constantly working toward making
a difference.
Eco Plastic Products motto is Never Waste an Opportunity. Their mission is to reinvent how the world views plastic waste by transforming what’s discarded into purposeful products while fostering education, inspiring community action, and providing opportunities to people of all abilities. Together we can make a difference by contributing to a cleaner, brighter future! So keep on collecting your plastics as we partner with Eco
Plastic Products.
