May President’s Message

Happy May! I love this time of the year. The trees and flowers are blooming, then again so are my allergies. It’s time for the allergy meds!

2025 NJSFWC Convention

As I write this, I am also preparing for the NJSFWC convention in Atlantic City. Last year was my first year, and I enjoyed my time. I learned quite a bit about the New Jersey State Federation of Woman’s Clubs (NSFWC) operations and the goals and aspirations for the 2025-2026 term. It was where the gavel was passed on from Past President Shirley Holly to our current President, Barbara McCloskey. It was where we learned what our current Special State Project is (Children’s Alliance). The breakout sessions were great! I can’t wait to see what this year brings, and I am looking forward to it. Also, the bonds formed between those in attendance were strengthened.

Special State Project

Most of our committees are wrapping up their projects for the year and looking forward to the summer break. There are still a few committees that will continue working during the summer. Our Special State Project Committee set up the Know and Tell Free learning session on June 17th at the RiverWinds Community Center. We invited all Garden District members to attend. I encourage all members to attend in support of this committee and for your learning experience. Members from the Children’s Alliance will be conducting the program and will provide resources and materials to help you understand the warning signs of a child in distress. Since our club provides resources for our schools, this is a perfect learning opportunity.

Day of Service

We are participating in the Day of Service in September, which is organized by GFWC (General Federation of Woman’s Clubs) in all states. This year, Domestic Violence is the focus, and we will follow the lead of NJSFWC. More information will come out from this President, as we plan to collect over the summer months. Sue Nelson, Linda Marple, and her team will be helping.

Civic Engagement & Outreach Committee

will continue to collect food for both the Colonial Manor and the Dream Center during the summer. See Cynthia Holmes-Butler on donations. In these unsettling times, providing much-needed food is critical. Many homeless and underserved families depend on these supplies.

May Meeting and the NJSFWC State President

We will have the honor of hosting our State President, Barbara McCloskey, at our May meeting. The seating protocol when any member of the State or District is present is important. I will work with the facility to ensure we are set up properly. Mary Schneider, our District VP, will also be in attendance.

Arts Entries

Finally, for our members who submitted entries at the Spring Conference, we welcome you to put those on display for the May meeting. All entries are welcome.

Enjoy this beautiful weather, my friends.

In Federation friendship,

Janice
