November President’s Message

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” —Anne Frank

Our basket raffle is over for this year, and I am extremely proud of the effort put in by all the members for our biggest fundraiser of the year. Outstanding job, ladies! We should all be proud. Sue Nelson will be giving us a report at the November meeting.

Annual Reports

I reached out to all committee chairs with the annual report materials. NJSFWC president, Barbara McClosky, has streamlined the reporting process. We now have a list of in-kind donation amounts, a worksheet for each project, and a summary sheet for the chairperson to complete. We all need to backtrack on a few projects since the reporting year is from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Now is a wonderful time to start doing that, as the summary reports are due to me no later than January 15th. I need time to copy them and put them in the mail.

I also sent the chairs a list of project names (does not exactly match to ours, but close) and which committees should report them. This is a notable change from the prior years. The chairs should review the list to determine if their project summary should be under a different committee. Going forward, check the project names to see whether your committee should manage or if it goes to another, and when possible, use the name from the list provided. Keep in mind that it all gets rolled up to the New Jersey Federation of Woman’s Clubs (NJSFWC) and the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs (GFWC). This part may be a bit confusing, so we can spend a little time discussing it at our General Meeting if necessary.

NJSFWC is holding a report writing seminar on Zoom on Wednesday, November 13th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. This is a hybrid meeting as some members will be in person. If interested, contact NJSFWC Chris Sienkielewski at chrissienk186@gmail.com. I encourage all committee chairs to attend or select a representative.

Counting our Hours

Another substantial change is in our volunteer hours. GFWC and NJSFWC want our club and committee meeting hours counted, so when reporting hours to Jody, please add 2 hours if you attended the club meeting, and if we had a speaker, make it 3 hours.

Meeting Location Change

In January, our meeting will be on Zoom, and you will receive the link closer to the time. Beginning in February 2025, our meeting location will be at RiverWinds Community Center. Thank you to Jody for setting this up for us. We will be close to the kitchen and have 4 Round tables and a Head Table for the Board. One of the Rounds will be reserved for new members who feel they need support from a tenured member to better understand the discussions.

Sincerely,

Janice
