Helping Ronald McDonald House

Advocates for Children Report

ā€œChildren are the worldā€™s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.ā€ ~John F. Kennedy

Happy March, ladies ?! Robin and I would like to thank you for those who donated valentines for Ronald McDonald House, allowing some of the young tenants to enjoy a cute valentine to open! We would like to keep doing and collecting for this amazing organization, which provides a home-away-from-home to families of medically fragile children who are being treated at nearby hospitals. Here are a couple ways you can help:

  • House Wish List. This list shows their greatest needs. If you can donate an item or two to continue helping them run like a ā€œhome.ā€
  • Show your Stripes Sock Fundraiser. This is a great way to show community goodwill and support. The month of March is celebrating Read Across America. Each pair of socks provide support for a family staying at their house. The cost of the socks is $10.

Hopefully, by our meeting I will have more information to share with you. If there is interest, I would be happy to order the socks for you and have them deliveredā€¦ Iā€™m thinking this could also be fun to purchase for your grandchildren. We can take a group photo and send it to Ronald McDonald house of us wearing our fun socks! Feel free to check their website for these ideas www.ronaldhousesnj.org

Project Linus (www.projectlinus.org) is another organization that provides handmade blankets to children in need. However, ladies, weā€™re not asking for finished blankets! At this time we would like to collect, if any, materials such as batting, thread, fabrics, and other items that you may have laying around not being used. They will take them and they have their own knitters. New blankets of any kind are always welcome.Ā  Thank you!
