“Where Flowers Bloom, So Does Hope” was the theme this April of the Garden District Spring Conference and Achievement Day held at the Pennsauken Country Club. The day began with a ten a.m. morning session of club reports, keynote addresses, and presentations of club awards for their community service reports. Our club received GFWC CERTIFICATES for our nine original Charter Members congratulating us for 25 Years of Membership and Service in the GFWC.
A delicious luncheon was followed by the afternoon session with the presentation of Conservation and Arts Creative awards. Our club was represented by Carol F., Denise P., Robin, Debbie H. (Garden District Assistant), Joann K., Linda J., Cynthia, Denise H., and Chris.
Many club members entered artistic items for competition that day. We are delighted that Joann Kf was a “gold” ribbon winner of the District Grand Award in two categories. Her acrylic painting as a beginner and her crocheted carriage blanket in the advanced category were both entered in the state competition at the NJSFWC Convention at Atlantic City. Congrats!
Joann’s crocheted carriage blanket won a GOLD award at Convention, and her acrylic painting a blue ribbon. Great job by Joann!
Our other club winners with a blue First Place Award ribbon are as follows:
Donna: knitting……sweater
Linda J: holiday……centerpiece
Cynthia: painting…..acrylic picture
Denise P: scrapbooking and handmade paper art…..adult coloring
Chris: photography…..scenes
Congratulations to all of our winners in various artistic categories! We all enjoyed a great day with our Garden District sisters to celebrate the many artistic talents and creativity by fellow club members.
***Some of our newer members have asked us to share our entries with the entire club at our May club meeting. Please bring your entries for a quick “show and tell” to have the women see various entries in various categories for next year. Thank you to all who participated and represented our club at the Spring Conference this year.
