After listening to Natalie Fortunato speak about the work of the South Jersey Dream Center at a meeting, we decided to continue to assist them.
We had a “House Warming” event for the Dream Center at our March meeting. Our members donated a number of new or gently used household items.
If you didn’t bring anything, it might be a good time to look through those kitchen drawers and cabinets to see what utensils, dishes, pots and pans, etc. you have not used in the last 6 months. If you are not using it, maybe someone else can. The Dream Center will take your donations on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thanks to everyone that brought items.
From the Dream Center:
One out 10 people in South Jersey live in poverty, according to the US Census. They lack the ability or money to provide for their basic needs. We exist to reach that one.
We actually believe the cycle of poverty can be broken over people’s lives. We believe that a sense of dignity and self-esteem can be restored.
How? By offering people options to change their status quo…from the inside out. To discover their God given purpose and value, and develop their full potential. To become a positive influence in their local communities.
We start with helping out with food, clothing, household, baby, and hygiene items. Then begins the personal, spiritual, and professional training. We develop the whole person.
