April Presidents’ Message

Dear Members,

Happy Spring! All the seasons are amazing and each one brings its own special gifts to each of us. Spring brings rebirth, joy, warmth and lots of flowers! It seems that our fabulous club is described in just that way. Each new member brings a rebirth of our mission, every member brings joy and warmth to each of us, no matter what our mood is. Friendships are forged, rekindled, and a willingness to do so much for our community just vibrates with each meeting. So welcome Spring, and let’s get busy doing what we do best. Bring the best out of each member and do the best we can for our community.

Congratulations to our Order of the Lily recipient Jeannette Wood and our Honor Roll recipient Linda Jones. How fortunate we are to have such energetic and enthusiastic members who do so much for the club. Both of you totally deserve this prestigious honor.

The Spring Conference and Achievement Day will soon be upon us. Thank you to Linda Jones for organizing all of the creative entries from our talented ladies. Good luck to all of you entering, and to the members attending, have a wonderful time.

The 125th Annual Convention of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) is coming from May 6 – 8, 2019. We have several members attending at least one of the days. We look forward to hearing all the great things happening within our organization.

The Bingo Committee has continued to keep busy purchasing the coveted designer bags and tie breakers needed for our Designer Bag Bingo night. The next committee meeting will be on April 24, where everyone will be updated on our progress and share the date of this anticipated event.

Congratulations to Linda Marple, Linda Jones, Chris Taylor, Joanne Keegan, Cynthia Holmes-Butler, Carol M., Denise Pitchford, Isabelle Cooper and Peg Shirey for their successful participation at Oakview Elementary School’s Literacy Night celebrating “NEA Read Across America” and Dr. Seuss. Your presentations were very well received and the feedback is glowing!

Another absolutely amazing night at Board and Brush was organized by our Social Co-Chairperson Peg Shirey. Those who attended had a fantastic time and we all made one-of-a-kind, exquisite art pieces. Seeing some of our members use those hammers, drills, stencils and paints shows how talented and versatile our group of extraordinary ladies really are.

Thank you to all members who shared congratulations, confidence and encouragement as I moved into the position of Co-President with Carol. Louise left some big shoes to fill and I will make it my goal to continue to help our club move forward with new and innovative ideas, as well as upholding our strong history set in place by our incredible veteran members.

In Federation Friendship & Love,

April & Carol
