October President’s Message

October is dedicated to both Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence. Please plan to wear either pink or purple to show your support.

October is always a busy month for our club. We completed our Hoagie Sale; we are now in the midst of our Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Donation Cards; and of course our Basket Raffle, our most profitable fundraiser of all. The power pair of April Maska and Sue Nelson, along with their “Gems” have been preparing for this event since May of last year. It’s hard to believe that it will be here in no time at all.

Our baskets are just about ready to be put on display for bids, our ladies will be dressed in their finery “purple shirts,” the balloons will be flying in the air welcoming guests to bid on 50/50s, where the proceeds go to our Special State Project, mystery bags, and our fabulous Super Baskets. A huge thank you to all who solicited businesses, purchased items, donated baskets, wrapped them, designed them, plan to work/attend the event. We couldn’t do this without everyone’s help.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” –originally stated by Helen Keller

Guest Speakers/Programs

October speakers will be the girls we sponsored for GCI, and Peyton Stumpo (HOBY delegate).

Garden District Meeting

We had thirteen (13) members turn out for the meeting at Haddon Fortnightly. The three speakers discussed Arts & Culture, Environment, and the Day of Service. The sand-wiches, chips, and condiments we provided for the evening were perfect, as were the desserts provided by the Monroe Township Woman’s Club.

A huge thank you goes out to Karen Hink for picking up the food and setting it up, even though she was not able to attend the meeting. Special thanks go out to Ann Caswell and her Arts and Culture committee for the beautiful favors, and to Jan Anastasi for working the State table.

If you have not attended a District Meeting before, it is a great way to meet people in other clubs and find out what projects they are working on. Club Presidents are given an opportunity to discuss their top two projects. I learned that almost all of the clubs are doing the Friends helping Friends Boscov’s cards! The next Garden District Meeting will be held January 21, 2027 at the Porch Club.

Family Fun Day

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the ladies who came out to man our booth, recruit members and sell our Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Cards. Giving of your time and your help was greatly appreciated. Due to our spot this year on the back patio of RiverWinds, across from the amphitheater, BEHIND the Carolina Blues Food truck, we did not have a lot of foot traffic. However, we were still able to sell a few Boscov’s cards.

Internal Fundraiser

We are still selling our Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends cards to benefit our club. Please take a few with you to sell to friends and family. The more we sell the more money we can donate back to the community.

The later one is being held on Zoom. You will learn what your report should include and what is being looked for to project what you have worked so hard to accomplish in your committees. (Jan.-Dec. 2026.)
