Service during the Pandemic

Our members are doing many projects from home to help others during the pandemic. Here’s an update from our members on what’s happening. Contributing to this article: Debbie H., Cynthia H-B., Janice M., Nancy B., Chris T., Denise P. & Jody H. Compliled by Denise H. If we left you out, please email a photo and info for the next issue of Tidbits!

Making Masks

As part of Home Life Debbie H. has been very busy making masks and scrub caps. Debbie is a very talented seamstress and a giving, caring person. Janice M. has made at least 50 masks. God bless you both!

Several other members, including April, are also making masks and giving them away to nurses, friends, and family. They also provided them to club members who needed them. Some members donated supplies like fabric and elastic.

Cards for Nursing Homes

As of April 27th the members of our club have sent 55 cards to residents of two different nursing homes, including Manor Care in West Deptford. We’re sure that number has grown.

Several members are sending handmade cards, and all include cheery notes from thoughtful members. Thank you all!

South Jersey Dream Center

The South Jersey Dream Center asked for our help with food donations for people in need. Cynthia H-B. has been coordinating this effort, picking up donations of food and money every Wednesday at noon and taking them over to the Dream Center. Great job by Cynthia.

Cynthia says, “The support of the club has truly been amazing! Every week members donate food, money and make online contributions. The list is too long to mention here! Some of you have donated more than once. Thank you!”

We should be very proud of our club because we DO make a difference!!

Other Food Donations

In addition to supporting the Dream Center many members have generously donated to Angels Of God, Catholic Charities and other churches, Seeds of Hope and various county organizations.

The pastor at the Colonial Manor United Methodist Church sends his thanks to all Club members and friends for their generous donations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nancy B. continues to collect unexpired canned goods for this food pantry in West Deptford. Donations can be placed at any time in the new green recycling bin on Nancy’s covered front porch at 1422 Woodlane Drive. Thanks again!

The Coordinator of St. Paul’s Methodist Church Food Pantry was very grateful for our club’s monetary donation in April. She reports that their food needs have doubled since the beginning of the pandemic.

Lunches

At least two of our members are packing lunches for organizations in Camden. Chris & Charlie T. are donating to Seeds of Hope and Denise P. to Cathedral Kitchen. Thank you all for your good works!

Health: Crohn’s Walk

From Jody H: Thank you to everyone who reached out to volunteer to assist with the Philadelphia Crohn’s walk. Unfortunately, the walk has been postponed. We will let you know when we have a re-scheduled date.

All this goes to show what an incredible club we have! Thank you, everyone!
