Stockings for Soldiers

Happy summer, everyone! We hope you all have a good one!

As April has mentioned, one of the projects our club always does over the summer is stuff stockings for soldiers who are serving overseas. These items are delivered to Operation Yellow Ribbon South Jersey and Operation Jersey Cares, who ship them to soldiers.

Our club hopes to fill 50 stockings this year, but WE NEED YOU! The club provides the stockings but we need all of your donations to fill them.

Below is the flyer with a comprehensive listing of items that are needed. Please purchase items over the summer and keep them. We will send out delivery instructions in August and you can drop them off then. We will also need volunteers to fill the stockings, probably in September, and they usually get delivered to state Headquarters in October.

NOTE THAT THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT COLLECT: NO Chocolate, because it melts, NOTHING containing alcohol, NO batteries, NO books or magazines, NO cans, NO hotel toiletries, NO shaving creams, gels, or sprays. Wow that’s a lot of NOs!

But as you can see from the list, there are many, many things that are a big YES! Just please try to keep your items gender neutral. There are many more men than women serving overseas, so let’s keep that in mind.

It’s time to start looking for bargains, ladies! We hope by the end of August you will each have a bag of goodies for our faithful service men & women. Please don’t wrap them or package them. We need to keep a list of items donated, so we’ll need to count & categorize each item.

Thanks so much for your support with this project, and watch for delivery information in mid to late August.

Happy Shopping!
