GWCM School Supply Project

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The children of the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries (GWCM) are prepared for a new school year thanks to our generous club members. (In-Kind donations: $912). Although the beginning of the school year may look different, the children are prepared for their work in school or at home.

Doris, Kimberly, Joan, and our friends Peggy P. and Monica Q-D packed and distributed the school supplies at the Main Food Pantry. The West Deptford Shop Rite and ā€œfriendsā€ of the GWCM also donated various items for this project.

The metaphor ā€œthe early bird gets the wormā€ fits the two distribution days. In this case the parents received more supplies on the first day than those who arrived on the second day. As the supplies dwindled the parents left with fewer items. The elementary children were given a backpack containing a pencil case, two composition books, scissors, crayons, pencils, erasers, and a glue stick. Middle School children were given a backpack containing spiral notebooks, pencils and erasers, pens, a highlighter, colored pencils or markers, glue sticks and folders. The high school students received a bag (no backpack) with a binder and notebook paper, spiral notebooks, pens and pencils, a highlighter, colored pencils or markers, folders and miscellaneous other supplies. By the end of the second day only pencils and erasers were left.

This successful project involved 70Ā volunteer hours.
